Lamont County Fire Ban (April 25 - 4 p.m.)

A FIRE BAN is issued for Lamont County effective April 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. This restriction is due to dry conditions and extreme fire hazard in the region.

No open fires or burning are allowed in campgrounds or in any other area within the County, no exceptions. 

ALL FIRE PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

  • Propane Barbeques will be allowed for cooking purposes only. And MUST be attended to at all times while in use.
  • No burn barrels.
  • No warming fires.
  • No burning is permitted during this fire ban.

Off-Highway Restriction

No person shall operate an Off-Highway Vehicle on County Right of Ways, Municipal Property, or trails within Lamont County during a Fire Ban.

This  FIRE BAN in effect for all Lamont County rural areas, including Hamlets. 

The following municipalities are also under Fire BAN: 

  • Lamont County; 
  • Town of Lamont; 
  • Town of Mundare;
  • Village of Chipman;
  • All other local municipalities TBD.

WHERE IS THE FIRE BAN?
The fire ban applies to all areas within Lamont County including campgrounds.

WHAT IS PROHIBITED?
All open fires within the County are banned, including campfires in campgrounds and random camping areas. This includes charcoal briquettes, turkey fryers and tiki torches. Fireworks, flying lanterns and exploding targets are also prohibited.

WHAT IS ALLOWED?
Certified CSA Portable propane fire pits and gas propane stoves designed for cooking or heating.

Please take care with all other activities around your property that could produce a fire hazard such as riding All-Terrain Vehicles and cutting tall grass.
